30 Mar A letter to our students from Mrs Goodfellow
Hello girls and boys! ππ
You have all had a whole week away from school now. I hope you are all ok because it is quite a stressful situation to be away from your friends and teachers and not have the routine of coming to school. I know you will enjoy some of your time away from school but I know you will also miss playtimes with your friends. All I can say is you need to do the right thing and stay at home π . You are safest in your own home and remember that children are usually fine and are not expected to get the virus. πππ Do not worry and please talk to your parents if you have any questions or worries.
We only have one or two children now who have to come to school some days. Sometimes there are no children at school. Some days there might be one child and sometimes there will be two children. Itβs not school as you know it. We only use the community room and the playground. The rest of the school is being deep cleaned everywhere. But these children come to school because there is nobody at home who can safely look after them while their parents have really important jobs to do – such as being an ambulance driver, a police officer, a nurse or doctor, serving or selling food or something else that is so important to help look after all of the people in our country.πππππ
Keep busy with your learning. You all have a work pack but there is a lot more you can learn that is not in your work pack. You might like to learn more about music and playing a musical instrument πΈπΉπ₯, learn all about the weather and why it rains or snows π¦βοΈπβοΈ, learn a new sport ππͺπ₯, help your parents to cook your food π₯¦π₯π π₯ or learn all about growing things in your garden or on your window sill πΈπΉππ΅π». There are so many lovely new things you can try.
I know it feels strange not to see your friends and some of your family. It is important though that you stay inside your own home with your parents and siblings. You can go into your own garden if you have one but you canβt go to play in your friendβs garden. You can go outside in the safe parts of the community once each day to exercise and stay fit and healthy. These are the new strict rules from the Prime Minister and we all have to follow them so that we do not pass the virus on to others.
You can do your bit to help. πππRemember to wash your hands like I showed you for as long as it takes to sing happy birthday π through twice. Watch the grown ups in your family wash their hands and teach them how to do it. Also, if you do go outside of your house, make sure you stay 2 metres away from anyone who doesnβt live in your house. We all have important things to do to keep our families, our community and our country safe.
Keep smiling π, be kind to your family and be good for your parents. I think of you a lot and miss you all.
Lots of love from Mrs Goodfellow. β€οΈ
