Holiday Dates

Being an Academy means we have more flexibility with our term dates and would therefore ask you to check all dates carefully. Please be aware as they will not necessarily follow the dates published on the Gateshead Council website.

The Governors and Head Teacher have created an extra weeks holiday in May/June time. We are able to do this by changing our end date in the Summer Term and starting our summer holidays later than other schools. This means our summer break is shorter but allows families to make the most of going on a cheaper holiday in May/June.

Pupil Leave of Absence

Parents are required under the Education Act (1996) to ensure their child attends school regularly.  There is no automatic right to take a child out of school during term time but the law allows Head Teachers to consider individual requests to authorise a leave of absence in exceptional circumstances.

The request for an authorised leave of absence must be made in advance using the Pupil Leave of Absence Form and the Head Teacher may invite the parent into school to discuss the request before a decision is made.
