11 Feb Artsmark Gold Award
Our pupils and staff are celebrating after receiving the prestigious Gold Artsmark Award.
Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. The award provides a clear framework for teachers to plan, develop and evaluate arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum.
There are now over 280 North East schools registered for Artsmark and they are supported throughout their journey by Culture Bridge North East and The Forge who work together to deliver the Artsmark programme in the region. This includes providing advice, practical teaching resources and introductions to leading cultural organisations in the area.
Melanie Carter, Area Manager, Culture Bridge North East says: “We are absolutely delighted Riverside Primary Academy received their Gold Artsmark Award. It’s fantastic to see that so many school leaders are recognising the prestige and intrinsic importance of this award in supporting an arts focussed curriculum.”
In order to become an Artsmark school, Riverside Primary Academy had to develop their arts and culture provision to achieve a broad and balanced curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.
Through Artsmark, Riverside Primary Academy will continue to incorporate art and culture into every pupil’s life, learning, knowledge and understanding, helping them to build skills, resilience, confidence and character.
On receiving the award, Mrs Docherty said: “We’re extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Gold Award. We are committed to delivering a high quality art and cultural education and we look forward to continuing to grow with Artsmark.”
A huge well done to Mrs Docherty for her hard work in achieving this well deserved award for our school.
